Being a disabled artist isn’t easy; we’re definitely stronger together. Join Hannah & Jess for a chat and some storytelling about how we can better collaborate and advocate for each other, the importance of peer support, and the joy of new possibilities.
This will be a relaxed and informal space to ask questions about artist-run-initiatives, as Hannah and Jess draw on their experiences in building Tenth Muse Initiative, a disabled artist-led not-for-profit in Boorloo.
You are welcome to listen in and engage in a way that's comfortable for you - feel free to bring something to write or draw with, and/or to snuggle up with.
This music workshop will be presented as part of a Crip Constellations session – a disabled-only and self-determined space to explore our own voices, practices and identities.
The session are curated and facilitated by disabled musician, composer and peer teaching artist Patrick Gunasekera, and follow the format shown above in the schedule. After the facilitated workshop, the afternoon section will give participants space to explore and share (or just listen) on their own terms about anything that is current in their practice. The overall flow and vibe of these workshops will be guided by how participants are feeling on the day.
To ensure enough time for all participants to contribute fully in discussions and exercises, each workshop will have a maximum capacity of ten participants.
